How it works

Anatomy of the Carousel

A "Ground-Gen" system: flying wings, tethers under tension, a grounded maglev generator, and predictive control — working as one machine.

01 · THE BASE

Maglev ground ring

A circular rail up to 5 km across that rides on passive magnetic levitation for a frictionless bearing, while a built-in distributed generator turns the rotor's motion into gigawatt-scale power.

02 · THE TENSION

Dyneema® tethers

Each wing is connected to the maglev ring by two high-strength Dyneema® tethers, each carrying 150 kN of tension, transmitting wind power to the generator.

03 · THE WINGS

The kites

245 semi-rigid, highly efficient composite airfoils of 130–500 m² each fly a coordinated formation at 1–5 km, each tethered down to a single point on the ring.

04 · THE BRAIN

Predictive control

The full-scale digital twin, repurposed from validation into live control, continuously optimises the motion of every wing — maximising torque while keeping each one inside its lane to within 10 m.

The digital twin

De-risking deployment with a full-scale digital twin.

To bypass the traditional, time-consuming demonstrator phase, the design is validated through a verifiable, dynamic full-scale digital twin.

  • Stress-tests the system across all operational and environmental conditions.
  • Models modular redundancy, predictive maintenance, and material performance.
  • Becomes a permanent real-time control room once the plant is running.
